Recognizing the dangers of anti-depressant drugs
In my opinion, anti-anxiety/anti-depressant medications are being grossly over prescribed (these type of medications are the 5th and 6th highest selling medications in the world). While these type of medications do have a place in the treatment of SOME anxiety conditions, they should NOT be considered as a cure.
As well, it’s my experience that these types of medications can do more harm than good, especially if long-term normal and medication-free health is desired.
To frequently these medications are prescribed as the first and ONLY form of treatment, without the individual being told the short and long-term ramifications of medication therapy. While some medications can provide temporary symptom relief, unless the underlying reasons for anxiety are addressed there is a high incidence of prolonged medication use and future disorder re occurrence.
In order to attain lasting normal and medication-free health, anxiety MUST be fully understood. That’s because understanding is a fundamental key to anxiety condition-free living.
This can be accomplished through the help of an anxiety professional and/or from pertinent anxiety self-help materials. As well, on-going support during recovery is vital to a successful recovery strategy.
While relevant self-help materials CAN provide lasting relief (for some, this is all that is required), others may require the on-going support and assistance from an experienced anxiety professional in order to fully break free from their anxiety condition.
Before you consider anxiety pills as medication therapy, or if you are already on medication, I urge you to:
Fully investigate the medication(s) you are taking and be fully aware of the implications of its short and long-term use.
Seek good self-help materials (such as this website).
Seek the help of an experienced anxiety professional (preferably from someone who has experienced anxiety first-hand) if you aren’t making progress or feel you are stuck in your progress back to normal and lasting health.
Continue to look for the help you require until you have fully recovered. Many settle for partial recovery when full recovery is achievable.
Recovering from an anxiety condition isn’t rocket science (although it may feel like it). With the right information and help you can return to lasting normal and medication-free health. Don’t settle for less.
For those that know me, they know my resistance to medication as a long-term strategy (I, too, was on long term medication so I know the challenges it
